PETA Fails to Protect Pets

RICHMOND,, VA: – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is known for its extreme methods to protect animals but a new report blasts the animal rights organization for not living up to its mission in Virginia.

This report follows a 2010 site visit to PETA’s animal shelter in Norfolk.

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services found that the animal shelter killed nearly all of the adoptable dogs and cats in its care that year and also in 2011.

That shelter is classified by the Commonwealth as a legal animal shelter.

According to the new report, out of the nearly 2,000 cats and dogs the shelter received, only 24 were adopted, 34 were transferred and the rest were put down.

According to an article in London’s Daily Mail, PETA says it’s not possible for it to have a “No kill Policy” at its shelters. It goes on to say it would rather offer the animals a painless death than have them tortured, starved or sold for research.

The report states that PETA has a $37 million budget and makes no effort to find homes for these animals.

The Colbert Report has Unexpected Reruns

NEW YORK — Comedy Central’s “Colbert Report” has turned to reruns and it’s a mystery why.

An expected new episode of the show was replaced by a repeat on Wednesday. Comedy Central said tonight’s live show will be off, too.

The network said it was airing the repeats “due to unforeseen circumstances,” but offered no other explanation. A person close to the show, who wasn’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter, told The Associated Press that new episodes are expected to return soon.

A publicist for Colbert declined to comment.

Colbert’s popular “fake commentary” program airs Monday through Thursday at 11:30 p.m. ET, following “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart.

Personal Note; I have only recently started to watch this program, and wish the staff and Mr. Colbert well. I hope for a speedy return to broadcast. This story was taken from the Richmond Times Dispatch.

The Manly Attitude

The Manly Man is a swaggering man, carrying himself with pride and self-assurance. He is not a follower and may not be a leader but, is unswayed by external forces. He goes where he wants, wears what he wants and says what he wants with no fear of condemnation. A real man may even eat quiche if it pleases him.

The Manly Man is not a quitter. Comfort and difficulty do not deter the Manly Man. He does his job to the fullest. He does not whine or moan about the task at hand but rather works beyond the call of duty. The Manly Man does not bitch. His attitude is “can do” or even better “will do”. The Manly Man is most likely a Republican forging his own destiny, not relying on public aid and Democratic programs.
